Biography


Espen Grjotheim was born in Bodø, north in Norway.
His stage career commenced at a very early age.
 As an eleven-year-old he went on tour with the show ”Kardemommeby” throughout Norway.
Espen finished his training in 1999 at the ”Baardar Academy for the performing arts”, where he studied singing, dance and acting.
Of the numerous engagements he has had to date, the following roles are particulary worth highlighting: Apostel in ”Jesus Christ Superstar”, Knuckles in ”Sugar”, Jesus in ”Highlights”, Mitch Maypole in ”Saucy Jack and the space vixens”(UK), Buddy Walsh in ”The full monty”, Nick Piazza in ”Fame”, Jean Michelle in ”La cage aux folles”. He also was a soloist in  the shows ”My first my last my everything”, ”A chance to change”, ”The childrenTV-show”, ”The highlight company” and last but not least the european tours ”Fire of dance” and ”Best of Musicals”.

In 2003, Espen was one of the finalists in the first season of the norwegian ”Idol”. Furthermore, Espen has also been engaged for various Tv-shows and numerous C
D-productions in Norway. He also used to be the lead singer in the popgroup ”Stray” , and did great on the Norwegian radiocharts.

In 2007 Espen was invited as solist on Secret Gardens CD "Inside I'm singing", together with artists as Elaine Page, Tommy Köberg and Barbra Streisand. In the last years he has been Secret Gardens lead singer on several tours around the world. He also sang the Norwegian Expo-song with Secret Garden in Shanghai. In 2011 he sings on Secret Gardens album, "Winter Poem".

Over the last years, Espen has been a part of a lot of stageshows, tv-productions and cd-recordings. He has sung on some of the largest concert-stages in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Berlin, Hamburg, München, Wien, Saltzburg,  Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Warszaw, Kiev, Edinburgh, Beijing , Shanghai og Seoul.
He also had leading roles in some of Norways largest musicals, "Mamma Mia" and "We Will Rock You".
